“ The food was really good. The charred orka was the best orka I've had in my life. The orka was totally delicious, I definitely would eat it again. The fried green tomatoes had a thick cornbread crust that was flavorful with the mayo giving a little spicy kick, I enjoyed them. The veggie omelet was very good. The house potatoes were ok. The peach cobbler is bomb! I took it togo. I ate the ice cream that came with it at the restaurant. I reheated the cobbler at home and I highly recommend it as well. So if you are vegetarian you can definitely eat a good meal here! The food was served hot. Our waitress, Chassidy was friendly and helpful. The adult Kool aid was like an 8 oz cup for 19. Overall very good and I would come again. ”

The okra with bacon I couldn’t get enough of. And to top it off, I was chatting with Rick, one of the employees and he was so friendly and knowledgeable. “ 10/10 so good we ate there twice and only spent a few days here but rather than trying some place new we decided to return the second day. Chicken batter seasoning was great, waffles are so good and soft, greens were great, macaroni amazing, house potatoes delicious. I literally have no complaints. Even their lemonade was great. Great music great vibe. Would recommend reservations but even on the first day we didn’t have any which was a busy Sunday and we still only spent 30 mins waiting walking around on nearby streets. If you love soul food come here! ”

I also stole a few bites of my roommate’s candied yams and mac and cheese, and let’s just say... a happy dance had to happen. The flavors were rich, soulful, and everything I hoped for. “ Excellent and vast menu with great vibes for group dining! I thoroughly enjoyed my order, 3 pieces of fried chicken and 2 waffles for 21. The pieces were well done with a bit of char, and the waffles were thin and delicious with the maple syrup. That grape jelly butter was also NEXT LEVEL. They had a brunch cocktail of 70 for a bottle of champagne with juice options (pineapple, cranberry, orange) for mimosa purposes. They were also really chill about splitting the bill with multiple credit cards. Will definitely come back next time I’m in the mood for DTLA brunch! ”
